About

I'm a painter and printmaker that lives in a small
fishing village, Bass Harbor, on Mt. Desert Island in Maine. I'm originally
from Washington, DC, where I grew up and attended school.
I've been an artist pretty much all my life, and hold a Bachelor's degree
in Studio Art from the University of Maryland and a Master in Fine Arts
from George Washington University. Although academic training is technically
important, my life experiences outside of school have had the biggest influence
on me as an artist. I love experiencing nature--more specifically sports
that involve being out close to nature--and most of my work reflects this
to some degree. In between painting sessions, I enjoy rock climbing, hang
gliding, paragliding and sea kayaking.
In my paintings, I am most interested in the composition and expressive
nature of color. In Maine, the ever-changing colors of the ocean--and the
dynamics of water as a fluid composition--provide a never-ending source
of inspiration for new works. |
